1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AnkiChess ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

AnkiChess is a subscription-based web application that helps users learn and memorize chess openings using spaced repetition techniques. The Service includes:

  • Access to a curated library of chess openings
  • Spaced repetition study tools
  • Progress tracking and statistics
  • Mobile-friendly interface

3. Account Registration

To use AnkiChess, you must:

  • Create an account with a valid email address
  • Be at least 13 years of age
  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Subscription and Payments

Pricing

AnkiChess offers the following subscription plans:

  • Monthly: $5.00 per month
  • Annual: $50.00 per year

Billing

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis. Your subscription will automatically renew unless canceled before the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

Due to the digital nature of our service, we generally do not offer refunds. However, we may consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis within 7 days of purchase if you have not substantially used the Service.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify our pricing. Any price changes will be communicated in advance and will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription requirements
  • Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by AnkiChess and protected by intellectual property laws. Chess opening data derived from public domain sources remains in the public domain.

Your study progress and custom data remain your property. You retain all rights to any content you create within the Service.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Technical issues
  • Circumstances beyond our control

8. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting support. Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of your current billing period.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AnkiChess shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claims related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that using AnkiChess will improve your chess performance.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
